Frequently asked
questions.
What do I need to get started?
A Mac running macOS 15 or later, an internet connection, and a Google account to sign in. Start with a question or bring in something you’re reading.
What can I bring into Arbor?
PDFs, supported PowerPoint files, plain text, Markdown, web pages, and YouTube videos with available transcripts. Source processing depends on the format and whether its content can be extracted.
Do I need to upload something first?
You can start with a general question. To inspect source citations, ask with source material. Quizzes need prepared concepts and usable sources.
What happens when I run out of credits?
Your saved notes and answers remain readable. New AI actions need credits, and daily and shared limits still apply. Buying another pack does not bypass those limits.
Does my work stay on my Mac?
Arbor is a native Mac app with cloud services. Your learning material is stored in your account, and relevant content is sent for AI processing when you use those features. Read the privacy policy.
Can I take my notes elsewhere?
Yes. Export study guides as PDF or Markdown, create Anki decks, or use import-ready files for Notion and Google Docs. These are file exports, rather than live sync connections.
